Choosing the outcome metrics is one of the most important parts of designing a new Pay For Success project. Outcome metrics are composed of big picture outcomes, outcome targets, and outcome measures, all of which help define why the intervention is important and what it is intended to achieve. This article outlines the basic principles to keep in mind when selecting outcome measures, such as the importance of being few in number, measurable, meaningful, and ambitious yet realistic.
